Heavy rainfall warning for parts of KZN

SA Weather Service places parts of KZN under yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall

Zululanders could face a soaking Saturday as the SA Weather Service (SAWS) places parts of KZN under a warning for disruptive rain.

Issued on Friday morning, the yellow level 2 warning is in place from midnight tonight (Friday) to 6pm tomorrow.

Affected areas in the region include KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Maphumulo and uMlalazi, as well as other parts of the province.

While the south coast of KZN may receive the worst of the weather, the forecast rainfall does extend further north.

Disruptive rainfall leading to localised flooding of susceptible settlements or roads, low-lying areas and bridges can be expected.

Road safety could also be hampered owing to wet, slippery roads and restricted visibility in places.

“Isolated showers and rain are expected, but scattered, along the south coast and southern parts of KZN tomorrow [Saturday],” said the SAWS.
Around 30-50mm of rain is expected in affected areas.
