STOCK theft and cross-border crimes were among the challenges highlighted at the uMkhanyakude District Crime Awareness Imbizo at Mfekayi community hall recently.
Led by Brigadier Jeros Thango of uMkhanyakude SAPS Cluster, the imbizo was held in partnership with the CPF, Spiritual Crime Prevention, the Youth Desk, and the Department of Community Safety and Liaison.

Other safety concerns discussed included gender-based violence, assault, and murder.
The engagement was also attended by traditional leaders, representatives from local municipalities, the departments of social development and health, and the African Health Research Institute (AHRI) in Somkhele.

Thango said stock theft in uMkhanyakude District contributes to cross-border crimes between South Africa, Eswatini and Mozambique.
He encouraged all stakeholders to work with the police in fighting crime, with the establishment of a communal solution for crime reduction.
