iNkosi and accomplice arrested for murder

Two suspects, including an iNkosi, have been arrested in connection with the assassination of DA Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.

Ndlovu was killed at his home in the Mpophomeni area outside Howick in December 2023.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the arrest was executed by the Political Killings Task Team.

The suspects include the iNkosi (56) and a 26-year-old man who co-ordinated the murder of the late councillor while in prison in Pietermaritzburg.

The pair will appear before the Howick Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Mathe said the duo joins another two suspects who were previously arrested and charged with the murder.

“They will face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The councillor was attached to uMgeni Municipality at the time of his murder,” she said.
