Municipality takes stand against illegal trucks

Strict clampdown on movement of heavy-duty vehicles through Vryheid.

In a bid to make Vryheid’s roads safer and protect road infrastructure, Abaqulusi Municipality has instituted a clampdown on illegally parked trucks.

Every night from midnight until dawn, Abaqulusi municipal traffic police will apprehend drivers of trucks found in town, and they will be ticketed for violating the municipal by-laws.

They will be released the following day.

This clampdown of the movement of heavy vehicles through the town of Vryheid comes amid concerns that they contribute to road deterioration.
