Public warned about latest job seeker scam

Public warned about fake traffic trainee recruitment advertisement

Job seekers are being warned not to fall victim to a traffic trainee recruitment scam circulating on social media.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) on Monday warned the public to verify information shared on social media, particularly regarding employment opportunities.

“Do not fall victim to scams. Visit our official website or social media pages for accurate and up-to-date information,” said RTMC.

In January, RTMC warned of a similar scam – a fake advertisement that had been circulating on TikTok inviting individuals to apply for a traffic officer learnership.

“The RTMC condemns in the strongest possible terms individuals who prey on the public by spreading false information and exploiting job seekers in an attempt to solicit bribes or other personal gains.

“These unethical and criminal activities not only tarnish the image of genuine organisations, but also cause financial and emotional harm to innocent members of our society.”
