Mayoral Mansion in Richards Bay being used as storage space after it failed to sell on auction

The multi-million rand mayoral mansion in Meerensee, described as an ‘elephant in the room’, is being used as a temporary storage facility.

This after it was placed on auction three years ago, without a single responsive bidder.

Addressing the current status of the property, uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Christo Botha told the ZO on Wednesday that it is presently being used for ‘secure storage of assets attached through a High Court order’…
