Security guard gunned down at workplace in Empangeni

A security guard working at a hardware store at Empangeni Rail has been fatally shot.

The guard was also robbed of his service pistol. One of the vendors said he heard a loud bang and thought it was a tyre burst.

“Shortly after the bang, I saw a young man walking fast on the pavement, and a huge number of people and employees from the hardware store were gathering at the premises,” he said.

Police are at the scene initiating their investigation.
