All hands on deck for city clean-up

Local stakeholders and businesses roll up their sleeves to clean up Tuzi Gazi waterfront

With the City of uMhlathuze gearing up to host the Tourism Investment Forum Africa this week, it was all hands on deck to clean up the city’s popular tourism spot, Tuzi Gazi Waterfront.

The clean-up was a collaborative effort, with several local stakeholders and businesses rolling up their sleeves to pick up litter.

The city’s waste management and parks departments were also on hand, cutting grass and trimming trees.

Among the stakeholders that participated were KZN Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), Isiphosethu Travel Services, Travelling with E2, uMhlathuze Community Tourism Organisation (uCTO), Silakhe Community Development, Sabipax Travel, Nomusa’s B&B, Slowless Cleaning and Maintenance, Spotless Cleaning, Umfolozi Casino, Seagull Lodge, Green Chapter, and Dockside.

The joint effort was commended by Deputy Mayor Christo Botha, who said it serves as a shining example of what can be achieved when local government, businesses and community organisations come together for a common goal.

He also applauded the uCTO for mobilising community involvement.
