Mystery fire consumes Empangeni restaurant

An investigation is under way to ascertain the cause of the fire that all but gutted a restaurant at 5Five Ways Mall in Empangeni.

The blaze took place on Tuesday night. As at Wednesday afternoon, the extent of the damage was still being assessed. The food outlet remains closed.

“We commend the quick response from firefighters as they managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread to other shops in the mall,” said one of the other shop owners.
