Fuel price adjustments for September

Department of Energy announces official fuel price adjustments for September, prices effective from tomorrow (Wednesday)

Motorists are in for more relief at the fuel pumps this week, with petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin all expected to drop.

Both grades of petrol are set to decrease by 4 cents per litre, while diesel will drop by 56 cents per litre.

Illuminating paraffin users will also pay 37 cents per litre less as of Wednesday, 3 September.

The official price adjustments were announced on Monday by the Department of Energy.

“The average Brent Crude oil price decreased from 69.06 US dollars to 67.01 US dollars during the period under review,” reads the department’s statement.

“The main contributing factors are increasing production by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries Plus [OPEC+] and non-OPEC producers, slower global economic growth outlook as well as uncertain trade tariffs.

“The average international prices of all petroleum products decreased in line with the decrease in crude oil prices.

“This led to lower contributions to the basic fuel prices of petrol by 1.88 cents per litre, diesel by 54.35 cents per litre and illuminating paraffin by 35.54 cents per litre, respectively.

“The prices of Propane and Butane also decreased during the period under review.”
