Help Richards Bay school marimba band compete at national event
Local security company spearheads pledge to help young musicians compete at national champs
With the deadline looming, Hussar Security’s R10 000 sponsorship for Richards Bay Primary School’s (RBPS) Uxolo Marimba Band has set the balling rolling for the team to participate in the National Marimba Championships later this month.
Their support not only helps cover the costs for the national competition, but also highlights the power of local businesses backing youth and the arts.
While the event takes place on Monday, 29 and Tuesday, 30 September at Michaelhouse, all payments must be made by this Friday, 5 September.
The prestigious event celebrates musical talent from schools across the country, and RBPS appeals for support to cover the costs for their 23-member band.
This includes transport, meals, accommodation and competition entry fees. Their budget is estimated at just over R60 000, and donations and sponsorship of financial or services are welcome.
