Tongaat man electrocuted to death

MEC calls on municipalities to clamp down on illegal electricity connections

Municipalities across KZN will intensify efforts to clamp down on illegal electrical connections following the death of a Tongaat man on Saturday.

Cogta MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi said he understands the man (21) was walking in Emona when he accidentally stepped on live electrical wire originating from an illegal connection.

“These connections are a serious threat to human life and safety. It is a tragedy that our province continues to lose innocent lives to this dangerous practice every year,” said Buthelezi.
