WATCH: Wet weather leaves Richards Bay motorists dodging gaping potholes on busy route

Caution advised when navigating pothole-riddled roads in Richards Bay as wet weather persists

Massive potholes on North Central Arterial (R619) between Aquadene and Brackenham robots remain a hazard for motorists, as wet weather persists this week and is expected to continue on Thursday and Friday.

While navigating potholes on this road is a regular challenge for motorists using this heavily-utilised route, the rain has exacerbated the problem as drivers cannot see the holes that are filled with rain water.

Added to that is motorists having no choice but to take to the oncoming lane to avoid damaging their vehicles in the craters.

In May, residents of Aquadene took pothole patching into their own hands, temporarily repairing the holes as residents were fed up with the craters damaging their vehicles and posing a danger to motorists.
