Empangeni pupils give back to Hospice
Old Mill High School pupils from all grades made a much-needed donation to the Zululand Hospice Association (ZHA)
Old Mill High School’s Representative Council of Learners (RCL) made a sizeable donation to the Zululand Hospice Association (ZHA) on Friday.
Pupils from all grades collected clothes and books, which were donated to the cause.
“You are never too young to make a difference. Small acts of kindness can change lives,” said Old Mill High School RCL president Yolanda Wilson.
“I applaud these learners for having thought about this initiative and to also think of others who are less privileged. “We support them,” said school principal Muzomuhle Bhengu.
ZHA general manager Christine Samuel was incredibly grateful for the donation and encouraged the Grade 11s and 12s to do community service at the Hospice premises, for which they can get a certificate of attendance.
“We catch the people falling through the cracks from society, the health system,” said Samuel, explaining the palliative work Hospice does for the community.
“They don’t have money to go to the hospital or to the clinic, but we travel to them and help them.”
