Education MEC encourages matrics to focus on finals

Matric pupils urged to remain focused as final exams continue with minimal disruptions reported in all KZN districts

Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka has commended all matric learners across KwaZulu-Natal for the commitment, discipline and determination they have displayed so far.

Hlomuka says this is a critical milestone, a moment to pause, reflect, and gather strength for the final stretch.

“We have started exams for the General Education Certificate (GEC) programme, designed to expand the learning pathways and success opportunities for our Grade 9 learners.

“I am encouraged by the smooth running of the examinations thus far. Our monitoring teams across all districts have reported that the exams are proceeding in an orderly manner, with minimal disruptions that our vigilant teams have been able to contain.

“This is a testament to the hard work of our teachers, principals, invigilators and officials who continue to ensure the integrity and credibility of this important process,” said Hlomuka.

He also reminded all learners to focus as the journey is not yet over, but they are closer to the finish line than they were yesterday.

“Use this halfway point to renew your focus and energy. Continue revising diligently, take care of your health, and remain confident in your abilities.

“Remember, success is built one paper at a time. We also thank parents and guardians for their support. Your encouragement at home remains one of the strongest pillars of our learners’ success.

“We also acknowledge the role of our teachers, who continue to go beyond the call of duty to prepare and support pupils during this demanding period,” he said.
