Your words could make Comrades Marathon history!

Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) is inviting you to submit slogan ideas for the historic 2027 Comrades Marathon

With the 100th running of the Comrades Marathon just a year away, organisers are giving South Africans the chance to leave their mark on one of the country’s most iconic sporting events.

The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) is inviting you to submit slogan ideas for the historic 2027 Comrades Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, 13 June 2027.

The landmark race will follow an 89km down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, celebrating a century of the Ultimate Human Race.

Whether you’re a seasoned Comrades runner, a first-time hopeful, a volunteer, or simply someone who loves the race, organisers want to hear your ideas.

The chosen slogan will help capture the spirit of the centenary edition, celebrating 100 years of endurance, determination, camaraderie and ubuntu.

How to enter the Comrades slogan competition

Your submission should include:

· Your proposed slogan
· The language the slogan is written in
· A brief explanation (one or two lines) of its meaning
· Email subject line: 2027 Comrades Marathon slogan emailed to info@comrades.com
· Deadline is 4.30pm on Friday, 17 July 2026. No late entries

What’s up for grabs?

The creators of the top three shortlisted slogans will each receive an exclusive Comrades Marathon hamper.

More importantly, the winning words could become part of one of the biggest moments in South African sporting history as thousands of runners descend on KwaZulu-Natal for the centenary race.

For many runners from Zululand, the Comrades Marathon is an important tradition that has inspired generations.

Now local supporters have the opportunity to help shape the event’s biggest celebration yet with a slogan that could become part of Comrades history.
