Vehicle overturns on the John Ross highway near Empangeni, leaving several people injured

Multiple people have been injured after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned on the R34 John Ross highway near the N2 bridge outside Empangeni this (Saturday) afternoon.

According to reports at the scene, the vehicle was turning onto the N2 on-ramp towards Mtubatuba when the driver lost control and overturned.

Three people have sustained serious injuries and 8 others suffered minor injuries. All injured occupants were rushed to Ngwelezana Hospital for further treatment.

Traffic is free-flowing on the John Ross highway. The emergency lane on the N2 on-ramp was partially obstructed during the incident.

Mounties EMS paramedic Joe Kruger, who attended the scene, commended the prompt response of all emergency services, adding that the scene had been cleared with patients transported to hospital within an hour.
