Lalla’s journey of sacrifice and strength

Proud Empangeni mom, Sheero Lalla, details her journey through motherhood and the moments she cherishes

Being a mother means being a source of love, strength and comfort – even when life becomes difficult.

This was shared by Empangeni’s Sheero Lalla (52), a proud mom who recently celebrated the graduation of her daughter, Shay (24).

Working in the radiology department at a private healthcare facility, Sheero says motherhood has taught her that love is often expressed through the little things one does every day.

“I am most proud of the sacrifices I made to give my daughter the life she deserved. There were times I had to put my own needs and dreams aside, but seeing her grow and become the woman she is today made every sacrifice worthwhile.

“Even during the hardest times, my love for her gave me a reason to keep going.”

Sheero says balancing her responsibilities was one of the biggest challenges she faced, particularly while trying to remain true to herself.

“There were times when life tested me, but I learnt to face challenges with patience, faith and strength.

My family gave me the motivation to keep going and reminded me that difficult moments are only temporary.”

She says she hopes Shay will remember the values instilled in her.

“I want her to remember that I taught her to be kind, respectful, independent and strong. More than anything, I want her to understand the value of family, to treat people with love, and to never lose herself while caring for others.

“I hope that when she looks back, she remembers not only what I taught her through my words, but also what I showed her through the way I lived,” she said.

Her advice to other women is to remember themselves while caring for others.

“It’s easy to become so busy being everything for everyone else that you forget who you are. Love your family deeply, but remember that your own dreams and happiness matter too.

“You can be a devoted mother without losing yourself. One day, your children will not only remember what you gave them, but they will also learn from the way you valued yourself. Never feel guilty for taking care of yourself too.”
