Richards Bay police officers recover stolen goods following robbery in Meerensee
A swift response by Richards Bay police officers, Constable Jeandre Fourie and Constable Mkhuliseni Mkhize, led to the recovery of a stolen work bag containing important documentation and a laptop, shortly after a Meerensee resident’s vehicle was broken into last Thursday night.
The resident, who asked not to be named, has praised the SAPS members for their quick response after the crime was committed at her home.
Attending the scene, the SAPS members obtained the victim’s statement along with a description of the suspect and patrolled the area.
During their search, they spotted a suspect in possession of the bag and, while the victim’s laptop was not recovered, important documents were retrieved.
The suspect, however, dropped the bag and fled.
The resident described the officers as being active and compassionate, going the extra mile to ensure the case was quickly registered and followed up.
She said their actions demonstrated the importance of police members remaining vigilant and responsive while carrying out their duties.
