Post Office announces Christmas mail cut-off dates for parcels sent abroad
Public encouraged to prepare their Christmas mail in advance to meet deadlines
Planning to send mail to family or loved ones abroad in time for Christmas?
The South African Post Office says now is the time, announcing the cut-off dates for parcels to be mailed ahead of the festive season.
Different deadlines have been set for surface mail and airmail. The public is urged to prepare their mail early to ensure it arrives on time.
“Customers are advised to familiarise themselves with the applicable cut-off dates and ensure their items are posted by the relevant deadline to allow for international processing and transportation ahead of the festive season,” said acting CEO Fathima Gany.
“We encourage customers to prepare their Christmas mail in advance, ensure the recipients’ addresses are complete and accurate, and that parcels are securely packaged.
“Customers should also retain proof of posting and tracking information where applicable.”
For international items sent via the Germiston Office of Exchange using the airmail service, the cut-off date for all countries is 10 December.
