NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION APPLICATION PROCESS
MINING PERMIT APPLICATION:
KZN30/5/1/3/2/11253MP Notice is given in terms of Section 27 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act 28 of 2002) (MPRDA, as amended) and Chapter 4 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, (2014) promulgated under the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998) (NEMA) of an application for a Mining Permit in terms of the MPRDA and an Environmental Authorisation Application following a Basic Assessment process as per GN 326 (of 2017) of the NEMA.
Project Locality:
The project is located within uMlalazi Local Municipality of King Cetshwayo District, KwaZulu-Natal. The proposed mining permit area covers an extent of approximately 5 hectares on Portion 0 of the Farm Umhlana 16922 GU, situated approximately 10 km Southeast of Esikhawini town.
Triggered Activities:
The Environmental Authorisation Application will include the following listed activities as per EIA Regulations 2014 as amended: LN1 and LN3. NWA Section 21 activities will be applied for development with 500m of watercourse.
Opportunity to participate:
The DBAR-EMPr will be made available for public review, for a period of 30 days (21 October-19 November 2026), and an electronic copy of the report will be made available to registered Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs). You are hereby invited to register and provide written comments and raising issues of concern regarding the proposed project using KZN11235MP as a reference, your name contact details, your email address and reason for your interest, and issues/concern to the contact details indicated below within 30 days (registration process) from the date of publication of this notice. Registered Interested and Affect ed Parties (I&AP) will be provided until 19 November 2026 to comment.
Please note that only registered I&APs will be notified of further opportunities for involvement in this process.
