Bay holds a slender lead

The Haigs Mowers Zululand League is heading for a grand stand finish after local bowlers got the ball rolling all the way to victory

IT would appear that the Haigs Mowers Zululand League is heading for a grand stand finish after rounds 6 and 7 were completed at the eShowe Bowling Club at the weekend.

Defending champions Bowling Club A got the ball rolling when, in their first game on Sunday morning, they beat log leaders Richards Bay A 18-15.

They then followed this up in the afternoon session with a resounding 29-9 victory over eShowe.

The Bay side, however, bounced back by beating Bowling Club B 24-15 to retain a slender one point lead with the final two rounds still to be played.

Mtunzini B moved into third place when they beat Richards Bay C 23-21 and Country Club A 26-11.

Richards Bay B remained in contention by accounting for Country Club B 23-12 and then peeling 23-23 with Richards Bay C.

Mtunzini A recorded two big wins of 39- 11 and 31-11 against eShowe and Country Club B respectively, but just may have left their charge a bit late.

Country Club A managed to nose ahead of neighbours Bowling Club B by beating them 26-12, but the woes of the Country Club B side continued with their two big losses and they appeared to have dropped anchor in the tail gunners slot.
