Three schools receive a donation of 150 pairs of school shoes in total
“It was important for us to donate shoes because it is heartbreaking to see children going to school with broken shoes. Some do not even want to go to school out of embarrassment at the state of their shoes. It was important to us to show them that someone cares.” - Nkoene
KwaThema – The Lifestyle Foundation visited Sechaba Primary School, Redumeletswe Primary School and Gorogang Primary School to donate new school shoes.
The foundation was started after a group of young people decided to sponsor a soccer team during a local soccer tournament in December 2017.
Following the support they received during the time, they decided to help other people through a foundation.

Mamello Nkoene, media liaison officer and executive member of the Lifestyle Foundation, says, “We are just a group of young people who are passionate about helping those around us who are less privileged.”
Nkoene says the foundation had no funds, but they raised them through a car wash and were able to buy the shoes for the three schools.
“We chose these schools after looking for a list of schools that do not get as high a subsidy as the others,” he explains.
The children who received the shoes were identified by their teachers, who sent their names and sizes to the foundation.

“It was important to us to show them that someone cares,” he concludes.
Ntombizanele Mavimbela, who received a pair of shoes, says, “My new shoes are nice and I am very happy, thank you.”

The foundation donated a total of 150 pairs of school shoes.
