Fundraiser for elderly

The Home Sweepers Social Club held a fundraising event for the aged and needy on Saturday.

The organisation played host to other social clubs who took part in the day’s celebration.

This was also a time to reflect on the year that was and how to better the club in the future.

Chairperson of the organisation, Meshack Mnguni, encouraged the other social clubs to take on more charity work.

“As a unit we can do so much more for those less fortunate than we can alone, so let us unite,” he said.

After the history of the club was told, a lucky draw was held for the tickets that were sold for the event.

The first prize was a flat screen TV, second prize was a ‘fridge with the third prize, a microwave.

The proceeds of the donations and proceeds of the ticket sales will be donated to the elderly.

“We hope that this will encourage people to give more and next year we hope to have bigger prizes and more to give,” he concluded.
