Gifts galore
There is nothing quite as exciting as a gift, especially one that is all wrapped up leaving you curious to its contents.
The United kingdom of God Church in KwaThema decided to spoil their children and elderly on Sunday during a special thanksgiving service.
Archbishop Jappie Mabena says the act of giving is a commandment from the Lord that his people should carry out.
“As his people we need to spread his message of love through the act of giving and helping others,” he said.
The children received gifts while the grannies where given groceries for their families.
With the majority of the congregation being made up of golden oldies and children, the leadership saw it fit to surprise them.
Reverend Thokozile Mabena says people should not give to receive but give because it is the right thing to do.
“We do this every year because we know about the challenges that are faced by some of our congregation,” she said.
She added that the message of God in the bible is one of hope, comfort and helping one another through good deeds.
“We, as Christians, need to help people in a practical manner that will show them God’s love,” she concluded.
The Sunday school children performed a play and a dance for the congregation to celebrate the special service.
