The community agreed with the Health and Social Development MMC Khosi Maluleke, when she said, “patients visiting the new White City clinic should not spend more than two hours at the clinic.”
She was speaking during the unveiling of the newly constructed R20.9-million clinic in Thema road on Friday.
The clinic which was originally built in 1992, was completely demolished in 2012, to make way for the bigger clinic, designed to accommodate areas including Langaville Extension which developing rapidly.
As one of the five new health facilities to be launched in Ekurhuleni during April and May, White City clinic is part of government’s plan, aimed at achieving the National Strategic Vision of, “A long and healthy life for all South Africans.”
The strategy is based on placing health services within a 5km radius of the community, which is in line with the Accessibility Norm for health facilities.
Mental health as well as rehabilitation services have been included in the list of services available at the clinic.
They are a expansion to services offered by the clinic, which includes child health, immunisation programme,
reproductive health, HIV, Aids and chronic diseases.
Maluleke also told the clinic staff they should expect an increase in the number of monthly patients from
four thousand to more than sixteen thousand people.
Social services looking at issues such as domestic violence, teenage pregnancy, unemployment, relationship
problems, suicide and substance abuse will also offered by the clinic.
