Gold, silver and bronze medals were handed out on Monday to three members of Little Heroes Day Care Centre who participated in a recent sports day.
The day care centre from Extension 19 was one of 35 Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres from Tsakane which were part of the event held at the Bunny Park, in Benoni.
Little Heroes’ principal Thembi Ndlovu said the annual event was organised by Backyard, an ECD association from the area.
“Some of the games played included athletics, relay, sack race and shooting hoops,” said Thembi.
Performance certificates were also provided to all participating day care centres.
All the medals won by Little Heroes were for athletics. Khulekani Magwentshu won gold in the U/4 category, while Mpilo Dladla claimed silver in the U/3 race and Ofentse More managed bronze in the U/2 category.
