Family pins its hope on medical report

The family of a four-year-old girl in Tsakane Extension 17 hopes to hear that their little girl was not a victim of rape.

Their only hope is the results from the doctor to confirm what happened to their little girl.

According to the girl’s father, they were informed by his 18-year-old stepson last Saturday that the girl was bleeding.

He said the boy, who is the little girl’s stepbrother, claimed to have seen the girl using a rusted iron nail to hurt herself on her private parts.

The frustrated father explained that they got the news when he and the child’s mother came back from KZN.

Adding that they left the girl in the care of her stepbrother and a 15-year-old sister who was not at home at the time of the incident.

He said they rushed the girl to the doctor who only gave her pain tablets but no tests were done.

“Because we noticed the behavioural change in the girl, we took her to another doctor for the rape test, however the doctor explained that he could not do the tests as the girl seemed to have been experiencing severe pain at that time,” said frustrated father.

He said the doctor referred them to a gynaecologist for the proper tests to be done.

The father will be taking his child to the doctor on Thursday.

He says he hopes the tests reveal that his daughter was not a victim of sexual abuse.

“If my child was sexually abused, I will open a case of rape and ensure that the person responsible gets punished,” said worried father.
