Community excited about a new street
Residents in Langaville's Luthando Street will soon stop worrying about the bad condition of the street.
The constructor has been on the site since the last week of February to fix the street by tarring it.
This work in Langaville extension five did not only bring the development into the township but also opened 15 job opportunities to the unemployed youth from that area.
Ward councillor, Mthumeleni Nditha explained that the constructor is expected to complete the job after three months.
He said because there are other streets that also need to be tarred, after the job is done in Luthando Street, the constructor will continue with the job of fixing the approved streets in the other areas within ward 81.
Speaking on behalf of the constructor on the site, Rebogo Ramasodi promised that the street will be completed before the three months’ deadline given to them by the metro.
A community member who is also employed by the constructor for this project, Avela Msokana said she is excited about the development that the metro delivers to them.
She said worrying about public transport will soon be over to the residents in that area.
“Because the street is impossible for the taxis to use, we travel long distances to catch a taxi,” said Msokana.
Adding that they also struggle to walk on the street when it rained because it becomes slippery, posing a danger especially to the children on their way to and from school.
“The development has also put food on our tables,” concluded excited Msokana.
