Metro cleans illegal dumping site in Geluksdal

Living next to filthiness and an unbearable smell from the illegal dumping site will be a thing of the past for residents of Geluksdal.

Following an article in the African Reporter on March 6, about an illegal dumping site that causes discomfort to residents, the metro cleaned that area on Friday.

The site was situated next to a community swimming pool, not far from an old age home and a church hall.

Residents who live a few metres away from the site were also affected by the smell and the filthiness from the site.

Albert Jacobs, one of the residents in Geluksdal thanked the metro for cleaning the site.

He said for many months, the illegal dumping site between the houses posed a danger to the lives of those who live next to it.

“We are happy that the metro listened to the residents and came to rescue them from an unbearable smell from the site,” concluded Jacobs.
