My daughter is not a magosha

Pastor suspects that there are people in their community who are spreading malicious rumours about her and her family.

A newspaper report about a pastor’s “wild” daughter is ruining the lives of her family.

Gugu Sibeko (45), a pastor of the New Life Christian Church in KwaThema, says a daily newspaper has misquoted her when she asked them to help her find her daughter, Happy (23).

The publication said Happy was an international magosha (prostitute) who causes her to lay awake at night, crying.

All she wanted with this newspaper report was to have Happy back at home.

And Happy came home this past weekend after she read the article with shock last Thursday.

Gugu says she suspects that there are people in their community who are spreading malicious rumours about her and her family.

The worst was when someone said last weekend on the social media sites that her daughter was dead, saying she had committed suicide with an overdose of pills.

“This was a lie and it has never happened,” says Gugu.

She admits that Happy is her “wild child”, but not that her daughter is an international magosha nor has she been involved with drugs.

Happy leaves her two children, aged five and one years, at Gugu’s home in KwaThema, when she temporarily leaves home. but always comes home again.
