Mokoto goes to Special Olympics

Duduza teenager Thenelo Mokoto (17) will be representing South Africa at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles, USA

The games will take place from July 25 to August 2, and Mokoto will be showing off her golfing skills.

Mokoto's talent for golf was discovered by the sports chairman of Matshidiso Lsen School, Templeton Nkutha (52)Every week, the school has a day dedicated to sports, and learners are encouraged to participate.

Mokoto has been training and competing at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club, in Johannesburg, for the past six months.

She was soon identified as a talented player and was chosen to represent South Africa at the games.Matshidiso Lsen School principal Thapelo Tshetlo (47) prides himself on the learners who excel in sports.

“We encourage our learners to engage in sports activities because that's where they may discover their abilities,” he says.

Nkutha is confident Mokoto will do well at the games.
