The incident took place along Geluksdal Road at around 7pm.
Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says the man, who is believed to be in his early 30s – was crossing the road when he was struck by a car.
The driver of the car failed to stop.
A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by the Springs police.
