Dog-fighters back in court on June 24

Tsakane - The case against 18 people accused of being involved in dog-fighting has been postponed to June 24.

The 18 accused, aged between 22 and 48 years old, face charges in terms of the Animal Protection Act No 71 of 1962.

The were arrested in 2013 when police closed down a dog-fighting ring in Tsakane.

They appeared in the Nigel Regional Court today (Wednesday) before magistrate Johno Voogte.

Voogte postponed the case again as the prosecutor was ill and not available.
