Young people celebrate June16 with old people

Tsakane - Young people celebrated Youth Day by putting a smile on the faces of the elderly, at the Tsakane Old Age Home, on Tuesday.

About five choirs from around Kwatsaduza performed for the senior citizens.

The aim of the event was to raise funds for the centre, to ensure that the senior citizens have all that they need.

Speaking on behalf of the home, manager Phoko Makhubung says he is grateful that the young people from Kwatsaduza chose to spend the day with the old people.

“It is not just about celebrating the day with the old people, but also about the young people showing care for the senior citizens on their day,” he adds.

Speaking on behalf of the choirs which performed on the day, George Shabangu says they saw no way to celebrate the day other than being with the old people.

He says that, as young people, they understand the importance of loving their elders.

“Old people are the source of information, they know more than us about the importance of the Youth Day,” says Shabangu.

He challenges the youth to seek knowledge from their elders.
