The man rents a room at an address in Tshetlo Street.
The homeowner noticed her cellphone was missing when she got home at 3pm.
Although she did not suspect anyone, she later saw one of her tenant’s with her stolen phone.
KwaThema police spokesman Capt Mandla Phori says the woman confronted her tenant, who denied stealing her phone. He threatened to assault her.
When she got back inside her house, she allegedly noticed some of her kitchen utensils were also missing.
She reported the incident to police, who arrested the suspect.
He was taken to the KwaThema police holding cells and will appear in court on theft charges.
