Suspects run away from scene after attempted robbery

KwaThema - A 28-year-old man was shot after three suspects tried to rob him and a friend in KwaThema last Wednesday.

Springs police spokesman, Captain Johannes Ramphora, says the incident took place in Kubheka Street, Interland Section in KwaThema at around 8.30pm.

He says the victim and his friend were fixing the victim’s car when they were approached by three suspects.

One of the suspects, armed with a firearm, demanded the car keys from the victim.

Ramphora says the victim refused to hand over the keys to the suspect and threw them inside a nearby yard before the suspect shot him in the leg.

After the shooting all three suspects ran off.

Police were called to the scene and the victim was rushed to the Netcare N17 Hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made and the police is investigating a case of attempted armed robbery.
