Gogo’s financial frustration
Tsakane – Gogo Johannah Chebeletsane (73) from Tsakane Extension 11, is still working on piecing her life together, after her home was one of four affected by strong winds last month.
But Chebelestane says the financial burden has left her troubled and stressed.
When the disaster occurred, the gogo’s zinc sheet roofing flew to the next street while her electrical wires were also disturbed.
And to try and fully repair the damage, she says she has had to depend on her pension money and assistance from the God is Able Ministry Church.
“Since my zinc sheet roofing and electricity was destroyed when this incident happened end of last month, I have had to find people to come and assist me.
“However, since I could not pay them all in full, all I could do was promise to pay them in installments for the next three to four months.
“The damage to my house has cost me about R10 000, which is too much for me to pay on my pension money, hence I am still battling to restore my house back to its original state.
“The situation is so difficult that even food seems like a luxury for me right now,” she says.
