Local fare remains R6
KwaThema – The Springs Taxi Association (STA) executive committee sternly states that community members of KwaThema are not to pay R7 for a four + one taxi (izigcebhe) until they as an association convey that message through posters, flyers and local media.
This follows after taxi drivers of four + one taxis are reportedly charging commuters R7 as opposed to R6 for a ride in KwaThema.
According to residents and the STA executive committee a flyer without the association’s letterhead or contact details circulated around the community reading that the taxi fare has increased.
“We as an association no nothing about an increase and we didn’t discuss nor confirm that.
“We urge community members not to fall for this and continue to pay the current amount of R6 until we communicate otherwise,” says the executive committee.
The STA further advises community members to take down the registration numbers of four + one taxis that ask for the unauthorised amount so they may know exactly who the culprits are that are going against the laws of the association.
“Meetings are currently being held with all the involved parties to end this confusion that has the community angry and feeling taken advantage of.
“We will make sure that the law takes its course against the culprits who have created this problem,” promises the executive committee.
