Church prays for law enforcement officers
KwaThema - In recognition of National Police Day, law enforcement officers from various departments were invited to the Kristo Inkosi Catholic Church for mass celebration on Sunday.
The purpose of the event was to show appreciation for all the officers who help and protect the community.
In addition, it was to pray for their safety and for better relations between them and the community.

They also prayed for a stop to police killings and for comfort and healing for the families of the fallen officers.
Among those who attended were security guards, law enforcement officers from private companies, the police and representatives from the Department of Correctional Services.
Speaking on behalf of the church, Justice and Peace volunteer Kgomotso Ndlovu says as the church they normally work very closely with the police.
They are also involved in issues of justice, peace and gender-based violence.
“This day was just for us to show our appreciation for our brothers and sisters who work to protect us as communities.
“It was also to pray for and with them,” she says.
Fr Chaka Modanyane also prayed for the officers and blessed them.
Representing the police from the Ekurhuleni East Cluster offices were Sgt Lebogang Ramayisa, Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, Capt Johannes Ramphora, Lt Col Morankwana Koma, Lt Col Olven Letloenyane, Capt Thabo Sibuyi, Lt Col Paul Selota and Sgt Dambisa Dwaba, among others.

“We thank the church for seeing the importance of the police and celebrating our day with us.
“We truly appreciate the gesture and the prayers.
“We wish that other churches would do the same, as we need the support of the entire community,” says police spokesman Capt Thabo Sibuyi.
