Handbook for high school learners
“During the research, we interviewed former high school learners who shared their experiences and advise on how to make the journey worthwhile.”
KwaThema – The book, The High School Survival Guide aims to guide young learners on how to tackle their studies without succumbing to peer pressure.
The book covers topics on self-love and self-confidence, attitude, the importance of resting, managing one’s studies, effective note-taking and the pros and cons of having friends.
The author Katiso Lekeno says the learners should use high school as a practice run for adulthood.
“If we all think about it, high school is a mini version of society.
“During the research, we interviewed former high school learners who shared their experiences and advice on how to make the journey worthwhile,” he says.
Katiso says if we stop for a second and look back, the teachers are like bosses at work and fellow students are like colleagues or competitors in business.
“In order for learners to do well, they have to be focused, responsible and disciplined.
“They have to manage their time.
Katiso says the learners will be able to apply the book to their everyday life.
“It is like an older brother who is there to guide them on what to do when they approach certain challenges in life,” he says.
