Local movie shot in KwaThema will grace the small screens

“People of all ages can relate to the movie and we are encouraging them to tune in and support local talent”.

KwaThema – Local movie, Impintshi Yegazi, is due to be shown on the small screens on Soweto TV channel 251 DSTV at 10pm on September 1.

The movie was shot, written, directed and produced by Fanie Mathibela and promises great entertainment.

Fanie says the movie is a romantic movie about the betrayal between three friends.

“They had just completed their matric and were still trying to find their feet.

“They try to convince each other to start dating the hottest girls in the neighbourhood.

“One of the guys ends-up committing suicide after being heartbroken,” he says.

Fanie says the movie cast includes Nothemba Sulupha (Yizo-yizo season two actress Nomsa), Ignition (Loxion lyric season one Sipho) and Busiswa Mambi.

“People of all ages can relate to the movie. We are encouraging them to tune in and support local talent,” he says.

Fanie who was born and raised in KwaThema has proven himself to be one of the most promising artists of the past few years.

He says he has always had a love for the stage and role playing.

“I knew when I was in high school that I wanted to pursue a career in the arts while my friends spoke about being doctors and nurses.

“I was a pansula dancer for Mishando (a traditional musician).

“In 2005, I started paving my way in the industry by working in the film industry as an extra for productions such as Catch a Fire (movie). I worked with Nothemba Sulupha (a casting co-ordinator), on Scandal, in Isidingo and also featured in an advertisement for King Pie.

“I later landed a supporting role in Sizwe Zuma’s Eskhaleni Sikantombela, Kwa Thema’s first feature film,” he says.

Fanie says he has written and directed three of his movies: Bad Dreams 1 and 2, as well as The True Meaning of Love which can be watched on YouTube.
