Local church donates school uniforms

“We are calling on other business people in the area to join us in extending our hand to help those who are in need.”

KwaThema – Ten learners at Phelang School received full school uniforms from branches of Vine Christian Centre on Friday.

The donation was as part of the church’s social responsibility to the community.

Reverend Solly Ngwenya says that at the beginning of the year they decided to approach the school to help them identify learners who in need of new school uniforms.

“During my regular Friday prayer sessions in the school, I identified that there are some learners who are in need of new school uniforms.

“We also donated 14 full uniforms to Khangezile Primary School at the beginning of the year.

“We were able to achieve this with the help of the local medical doctor.

“We are calling on other business people in the area to join us in extending our hand to help those who are in need.

“We will not be able to play our roles as community leaders, church and business people if we work as islands.

“We would like to reach more beneficiaries in our next drive,” he says.

School principal Tshepo Ledwaba says they are humbled by the donation.

“Most of our learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds and often their parents can barely afford a single full uniform.

“They are forced to depend on the one uniform until a good Samaritan donates.

“The donation will make a difference in their lives.

“Our doors are always open to those who want to help us,” he says.
