Goats are nuisance to Tsakane neighbour
Two neighbours are at odds because one of them is keeping goats on a residential property.
Tsakane – Thabo Rantsema of Extension Eight says he has made numerous complaints about his neighbour but has had very little success.
“I tried speaking to him many times in the past few years, but I don’t believe he wants to fix the problem.”
Rantsema sent an official letter to the metro in October last year.

“Representatives from the Department of Health and Social Development came to assess the situation.
“They told him to move the animals by the new year, but he has not.”
Lucas Manana admits that the goats should not be living in his yard.
“I understand why I should move them away and I am trying to make a plan.”
The metro has since allotted Manana a piece of land, a few hundred metres away from the houses, where he can keep the animals.
However, in March he received a fine after he failed to move the animals.

“I am trying my level best, but it has been a challenge trying to find a fence to close off the area.
“As soon as I get all the materials I need, I will complete the project,” he explains.
Manana is appealing to the community to assist him with the wire fence.
The situation is especially urgent because Rantsema says his son suffers from sinusitis and the presence of the animals aggravates his condition.
Manana says, “This is how I make a living.
“I need these animals.
“I hope my neighbours will be patient with me for a little while longer.”
Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni metro, confirms that a complaint was received from Rantsema.
“Two notices were issued to Manana to remove the goats that cause a health nuisance.
“Manana did not adhere to the notices and a fine was issued to him to the amount of R500.
“An inspection was carried out again on May 3 by a health official of the City of Ekurhuleni and it was noticed that the goats were still on the premises.
“In view of the above, the matter has now been referred to the Corporate and Legal Services Department on May 7 for their intervention and possible action to remove the goats.”
