Teboho wants to take rugby to all schools in Kwatsuduza
Teboho Mochabo’s passion for rugby has him working hard to establish a league in the hood.
The 30-year-old Hoërskool Johan Jurgen rugby coach caught the bug at Welgadacht Primary School.
“Once I started playing, I just knew that it is all I wanted to do.”
Unfortunately, when he went to the high school they did not have a rugby coach.
“We would just sit around and hope that one day someone will come and help us, but nothing happened.
“Until one day I decided to take the lead as the coach.”

And he has not looked back since.
“In 2008, I started working with the Department of Sport to introduce the sport in township schools.
“Children have interest in all sport as long as you do it well and give them the right info,” he says.
He is also the co-ordinator for Vuka Rugby, supported by SA Legends Rugby, and a referee.
“We have seen many players going to provincial and regional levels just from being part of the programme.
“But there are still challenges, like funding, because most of the schools do not have the proper facilities.”
He says his short-term goal is to get coaches for every school.
“It is good to see that the teachers are also getting interested in the sport.
“This year we also want to establish girls teams and we want them to make the provincials,” he says.
Teboho says they want to have a proper female league in Kwatsaduza.
“We are appealing to business people for sponsorship so that we can reach as many children as possible.
“We are ready to groom them.”
