KwaThema parks depot planned to be finally ready in weeks

The more than R10-million Municipal Parks Depot in Ward 78, on the corner of Kgaswane and Moshoeshoe street, is estimated to be completed by the end of this month.

KwaThema – The project started in April 2016 and was supposed to be completed within six months but because of delays and the shortage of funds, the project ran over two years.

The site is said to be a depot park for the municipal vehicles.

The project’s community liaison officer (CLO), Sello Malaka, says the first phase was to build a block of offices and ablution rooms which was completed for R5-m.

“The second phase of the project was the construction of the garages.

“We are currently working on the final touches of the project which include tiling, putting in ceilings and windows and paving the sight.

“We are also waiting for a directive from the municipality about the completion of the ablution rooms because there are differences between the contractor and the municipality.

“We are hoping they sort out their differences so we can complete the project in the estimated time frame,” he says.
