Nhlanhla helps the poor

“We will be able to improve our communities if we all extend our hands to help others.”

KwaThema- Resident Nhlanhla Joni joined the national outcry to help those who are less fortunate recently.

She was speaking during her annual donation drive where she distributed dignity packs to the learners at Thembalikazulu Primary School.

During the drive she also hosted a lunch date for the elders from Vukuzenzele Old Age Home and Leratong Old Age Home.

Nonhlanhla says she started the initiative three years ago after identifying some learners bunk classes during their monthly cycle.

“We donated 70 dignity packs to the learners from disadvantaged families and who cannot afford toiletries.

Learners from Thembalikazulu Primary School received dignity packs from Nonhlanhla Njoni.

“These young people need support to motivate them to stay in school.

“I know the elders felt special for being treated to a lunch date because they stay in these centres and barely receive visitors.

“I know this is a once off donation because I use my own funds to make this possible but I know this will make a difference,” she says.

Nonhlanhla says she is encouraging residents to contribute positively to help others, especially the children and elderly.

“We will be able to improve our communities if we all extend our hands to help others,” she says.
