Chief says parents must teach children respect
“My door is always open to lend a helping hand in reshaping and sharing my wisdom with young people.”

KwaThema – Ndebele chief Elijah Skhosana has called on citizens to go back to basics when raising their children.
He was speaking during a heritage ceremony held in KwaThema recently.
This was part of the chief’s celebration of the heritage of South Africa.
Old and young attended the event.
Skhosana says we are faced with lawlessness in our schools and homes because parents have stopped teaching their children the importance of respect, who they are and where they come from.

“We have young people who are confused and addicted to substance abuse because they don’t know who they are.
“Young people continue to be infected with HIV/Aids, robbing them of a healthy future.
“We are seeing young people becoming parents daily.
“They are still trying to find themselves, yet they are expected to be parents and raise their children.
“This should be a wake-up call and we should not allow it to get even further out of hand, because these young people are the future of this country,” he says.
During the event graced by traditional leaders from Ekurhuleni, young people were taught the importance of culture.
Skhosana says he is calling on parents or young people who need his support and intervention to come to him.
“My door is always open to lend a helping hand in reshaping and sharing my wisdom with young people,” he says.
