Deadline reached, pensioners still waiting for report
“We have waited for years for the payouts and we will not rest until we succeed.”
Kwatsaduza – Three weeks ago members of the Unpaid Benefits Campaign (UBC) in Ekurhuleni handed their memorandum of grievances to Alexander Forbes concerning their unpaid benefits which the company administers.
Demonstrators who picketed outside the Alexander Forbes headquarters were beneficiaries of pension funds which include, among others, Kellogg’s Pension Fund, Putco Pension Fund, Gillette Employees’ Pension Fund and more.
They gave the administrator 14 days, which ended last week Friday, to report back to them.
Member of the steering committee Thomas Malekotsa says they are still waiting for Alexander Forbes to send them a written report of their findings.

“We called them on Monday and an administrator by the name of Jack Matlou informed us there were 850 people on their system who were still to be paid and some of the claimants were paid last week.
“We are waiting for the formal email informing us about this in writing,” he says.
Thomas says they will continue pushing until each one of their members is paid.
“We have waited for years for the payouts and we will not rest until we succeed,” he says.
Means to get hold of the administrator for comment proved to be impossible but we will continue trying.
