Free mathematics lessons for high school learners

Langaville – Grade Eight to 12 learners struggling with mathematics and physical science are invited to enrol for extra lessons at the Mathematics Excellency Academy, for 2019.
The extra lessons are offered at Langaville Secondary School every Saturday.
Founder of the academy, Collen Msibi says he founded the school six years ago after realising the need for learners to take maths as a subject in school.

“I wanted to make mathematics fashionable and entice the learners to want to understand and learn how to work with numbers.
“Many young people have a stereotypical believe that maths are boring and difficult to tackle.
“Mathematics and physical science are some of the subjects which are lacking behind in the country because many people don’t want to take them in school.
“Since we started offering the lessons and working with the teachers in the area, we have identified an improving pattern,” he says.
Collen says he could not understand some of the reasons so he decided to be the change he wants to see in his community.

“Mathematics was one of my favourite subjects in school because the teachers made an effort.
“I decided to offer lessons to some of the Grade 12 learners in my residential block and the number continued growing through the months,” he says.
The mathematics tutor says he is calling on parents to enrol their children in his academy for the 2019 classes.
